Getting to Galata Tower by Public Transport
1. By Tram (T1 Bağcılar – Kabataş Line)
If you are coming from the Historic Peninsula areas such as Sultanahmet, Gülhane or Eminönü, you can take the T1 line and get off at Karaköy stop.
The walk from Karaköy stop to the tower takes about 8–10 minutes. Since part of the road consists of an uphill route and stairs, it is a good idea to wear comfortable shoes.
2. By Metro (M2 Yenikapı – Hacıosman Line)
You can get off at Şişhane station, take the exit towards the Tünel end of İstiklal Street and reach the tower with a 5–7 minute walk.
Alternatively, you can take the tunnel funicular (F2) from Karaköy up to Beyoğlu–Tünel and then walk a short distance down to the tower.
3. By Bus
Karaköy and Şişhane are major transportation hubs for buses coming from many parts of Istanbul. Many lines from Taksim, Beşiktaş, Eminönü, Fatih and nearby areas stop at Karaköy or Şişhane. After getting off at these stops, you can reach the tower with a short walk.
4. By Ferry (Kadıköy / Üsküdar – Karaköy / Eminönü)
If you are coming from the Asian side of the city:
You can take the Kadıköy–Karaköy or Üsküdar–Karaköy ferry and reach the tower within 10 minutes on foot from Karaköy Pier.
Alternatively, you can go from Kadıköy/Üsküdar to Eminönü and then transfer to the T1 tram line to get to Karaköy.
Galata Tower Entrance Fee
After being reorganized as a museum in 2020, Galata Tower started to be operated as a museum affiliated with the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the ticket policy is determined by the ministry.

- Citizens of the Republic of Türkiye (with Museum Pass / MüzeKart): Museum Pass holders can enter Galata Tower without paying any additional fee. According to the latest practice, Museum Pass holders can visit Galata Tower free of charge twice a year.
- Citizens of the Republic of Türkiye (without Museum Pass): A single ticket costs approximately 650 TL.
- Visitors with Free / Discounted Entry Rights (Citizens of the Republic of Türkiye): Provided you present your ID, the following groups can enter the tower free of charge: under 18; over 65; people with disabilities and one companion; veterans, relatives of martyrs and veterans; and teachers.
